A beach proposal at sunset is the dream – and it’s no surprise this is the most popular choice. The warm evening light, the sound of the waves, the horizon glowing gold… it’s the perfect backdrop for the question.
But here’s the truth:
Finding a sunset-facing beach that’s completely private is harder than it looks – especially in peak season.
🌅 Peak Season (July & August)
During summer, most beaches are busy until late. Even those with the perfect sunset view are rarely empty. The only ones that may be quiet are wild, hard-to-reach beaches, and even then, there’s no guarantee.
If you don’t mind having others nearby, you’ll have plenty of options. But if privacy matters to you (and it should to keep the moment intimate), we need to be strategic.
🍂 Low Season
Outside of July and August, peaceful beaches are easier to find – especially early evening.
But even then, popular and easily accessible locations are rarely completely empty.
Best larger beaches where you may find a quiet spot:
- Glyfada Beach
- Kontogialos Beach
- Chalikounas Beach
- Issos Beach
These long sandy stretches make it possible to walk further away from crowds.
🔍 If Privacy Is Essential
You have two solid options:
1️⃣ Hike to a Wild Beach
These remote beaches often have little to no visitors. Amazing for privacy, but not ideal after sunset – hiking back in the dark is risky.
2️⃣ Private Sunset Boat Trip (Recommended ⭐)

Mountain Proposal – Breathtaking Views, Grounded Moments
If you’re dreaming of a proposal surrounded by nature, with panoramic views and solid ground beneath your feet, a mountain proposal might be the perfect option.
It’s ideal if:
- One of you gets seasick easily
- You’ve already been on a boat during your holiday and want something different
- You’re looking for a more simple, budget-friendly yet meaningful setup
High above Corfu, the hills and mountains offer some of the most stunning sunset views on the island. The only challenge? Popular viewpoints are rarely private, especially during peak season. Spots like 7th Heaven Café/Bar, Paleokastritsa Monastery, and Kaiser’s Throne are beautiful—but also well-known and often crowded.
There are, however, hidden locations that only locals know. Quiet places where nature surrounds you, cicadas sing, and the moment is yours alone. Some of these require a short hike or even a 4×4 vehicle to access, but that’s often what makes them truly special.
One example is The Donkey Path—a viewpoint with a breathtaking panorama and fewer visitors. And there are more secret places, off the map and far from crowds, waiting to set the scene for your proposal.
